An ordered list — ordinary Markdown, numbered from wherever it starts.
1. Read the file
2. Change one thing
3. Save it
5. A list that starts at five
Canonical form is N. markers, incrementing, with a one-space item indent.
1) is read and becomes 1.; the first item's number is kept, so a list
starting at 5 is written back starting at 5, and only the first number decides.
An item is a paragraph carrying a list style, exactly as in a
bulleted list, and the same rules follow: nested blocks are
indented natively, and an item's own align comment draws nothing.
A numbered item carrying a checkbox is a to-do — the checkbox wins and the list canonicalises to bullets.
